This unit will introduce students to the alphabet, various sounds and structures of word forms and syntax in biblical Hebrew, together with the accompanying cultural and historical background of the Old Testament. 77% of the Bible is communicated in Hebrew. This unit enables students to read selected texts from the Old Testament for meaning. Methods of learning using principles of applied linguistics and language online pedagogy include: video lectures and writing activities, weekly vocabulary and parsing quizzes, translation activities in the lessons and an exam translation and interpretive reflections on a biblical passage.
