This unit introduces the basic grammatical elements of New Testament Greek. Students will learn how to recognise and translate the main parts of Greek speech: nouns, adjectives, verbs (present indicative), pronouns, and conjunctions. They will memorise and recall the most frequently used Greek words and begin to develop necessary skills for translation and interpretation of selected the New Testament texts. This unit for online self-paced study is designed around resources developed by W.D. Mounce.

Unit sequence

This unit is offered as the part one of two undergraduate units in biblical languages and could be taken as prerequisite to AL2742B Introduction to New Testament Greek (B).

Pedagogy

The course will facilitate student learning and achieving LOs in an online environment through a set of appropriate learning activities, e.g. translation, parsing, workbook exercises, vocabulary recall, and practicing reading, writing, and listening in Koine Greek. The course also includes a set of online tutorials.
