This unit is designed to consolidate and develop the language skills gained from introductory studies in Koine Greek (New Testament Greek). Students will translate and analyse excerpts of narrative texts taken predominantly from the New Testament but also from contemporaneous Greek writings. They will revise and extend their knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, exegesis and textual criticism in the course of this process. (Cross-listed with BN9504C).

Learning outcomes

1.	Perform lexical, morphological and syntactic analysis of Koine Greek texts.
2.	Translate moderately difficult narrative passages in Koine Greek from the New Testament and contemporaneous writings.
3.	Consult specialist dictionaries, grammars and commentaries in order to increase their understanding of passages in Koine Greek.
4.	Discuss exegetical questions relating to narrative passages in Greek from the New Testament and contemporaneous writings, making reference to the Greek text and exhibiting exegetical sophistication.
5.	Apply principles of textual criticism to the study of manuscript variants in the New Testament.
6.	Formulate, research and write up an analysis of a linguistic feature of a narrative passage in Koine Greek in a critically rigorous and self-directed manner.
