Content

Domestic Violence (DV) is a “hot topic” in both the media and in professional practice. However, its aetiology and presentation is complex. This unit will explore the emerging literature surrounding DV, community responses to DV, and how a counsellor can best work with victim-survivors or perpetrators. In addition to recognising best-practice therapeutic interventions, students will learn about their ethical and legal obligations when working within a DV context, as well as how to promote the safety of all parties.
