Systematic theology is a field that is both broad and deep. This unit will give you a broad sweep of key areas of systematic theology so that you can get a good foundation in the discipline as you prepare for more in-depth units as you continue your studies. In this introductory unit, you will explore key developments and doctrines within the discipline and engage with the sources of systematic theology. Time will be spent considering different methodologies and approaches to the field, particularly contemporary constructive and contextual theologies. We will hear from a variety of voices, including feminist, black, Latinx, womanist, Asian, queer, and Indigenous, as we read and explore Christian theology and how our beliefs influence our ministry practices.
