Content

Asians do theology and draw nourishment from their Asian cultures and the lived experience of Asian peoples. This unit focuses on the questions and theologies that have developed in this vast region and introduces select Asian theologians and theological themes that have emerged to address issues such as religious pluralism, cultural diversities, poverty, and the marginalization of women, Dalits, and many other communities and issues. Students will also explore the contribution of Asian theologies to global Christianity and their relevance to the Australian context.

Pedagogy

The unit will consist of Lectures, Tutorials and discussion forums all delivered in a Seminar style (whether face to face or online) so that students can interact with the ideas presented, engage with peers and their reflections and ideas and develop skills in critique, debate and practical application. There will be guest lecturers who will share their expertise on specific topics.
