Students in this unit examine, evaluate and engage models of the church and mission from theological, missiological and practical perspectives. Attention is given to the practices of the church, such as the sacraments, worship, and pastoral care, considering their role, not only within the Church, but in the mission of the Church to the broader Australian context.

Learning outcomes

1.

Articulate an understanding of the nature of the Church and its relationship to the mission of God

Analyse and describe the ways that church practices can be adjusted to better enable them to benefit both the church community and those outside that community

3.

Articulate a reflective response to selected case studies in mission and ministry

4.

Use theological and missional knowledge to evaluate the effectiveness of particular missional endeavours.

Students must have 72 foundational points, including at least 18 in systematic theology.
