Learning outcomes

1.

Articulate an understanding of the nature of Australian society and what the implications are for mission

Evaluate the contribution of LCA ecclesiology for the mission of the church in the world today

Identify the scriptural and confessional principles that apply to the ordering of the Church and the congregation

Consider and apply a range of different leadership styles and basic principles of organisation to the pastor's role in congregational administration

Identify issues and design approaches that demonstrate effective pastoral leadership in planning, organising, and coordinating the congregation's worship, education, fellowship, service, and mission

Pedagogy

The unit involves lectures, class discussion, and a variety of other learning approaches which foster deep learning. Students explore the concept of culture in general and Australian society, to reflect on their understanding of the church in the world today, forms of pastoral leadership, and insights for mission.
