This unit contributes to equipping students to provide individual supervision in a variety of disciplines— that is, supervision conducted on a one-on-one basis between a supervisor and a supervisee. The student will learn how to supervise (i) students in ministry formation (for example, those in formation to be a spiritual directors or pastoral carers), Coaches and Counsellors, and (ii) qualified practitioners (for example, persons who have completed their formation as spiritual directors or pastoral carers, coaches and counsellors). This unit will specifically focus on supervision within the tradition of Ignatian paradigm and assumes a basic knowledge of its fundamental principles. Students will learn about supervision as a process to maintain adequate standards of professionalism and a method of consultancy to widen the horizons of professionals and experienced practitioners in coaching, counselling, and ministry formation. The unit will focus on the development of skills, attitudes, approaches and knowledge. This five-day intensive unit aims to foster in practitioners, sustained growth in the competencies for Individual Supervision.
